  Breathe Easy Asthma

Asthma is a disease that affects the breathing passages of the lungs bronchioles). Asthma is caused by chronic (ongoing, long-term) inflammation of these passages. This makes the breathing passages, or airways, of the person with asthma highly sensitive to various "triggers."

  • Asthma cannot be cured, but it can be controlled.

  • You have a better chance of controlling your asthma if it is diagnosed early and treatment begun right away.

  • With proper treatment, people with asthma can have fewer and less severe attacks.

Loretto Hospital’s Breathe Easy Asthma Clinic has benefited a large population of residents of the West Side of Chicago and throughout the Chicagoland Area. This program is a six (6) week program designed to educate individuals on managing their own Asthma.

Program participants receive as Asthma Action Kit. This kit includes a peak flow monitoring device and a metered dose inhaler spacer. Members participate in a series of exams which includes a lung function test. These products are used to manage your Asthma.

Asthma is a disease which can be easily controlled with medication, it is important that you take your medicine as prescribed by your doctor.
