Launa Thompson Women's Health Pavilion
Coming Soon!
Over the past several years, inquiries regarding the availability and usage for a Women's Program has consistently surfaced. Therefore, the demands for gender specific substance abuse services is paramount in the substance abuse treatment community.
The gender specific program will be based on the women's substance abuse model developed by Dr. Stephanie Covington,
which emphasizes the treatment of the whole woman. This will include, a substance abuse curriculum including psychotherapy,
parenting, education on trauma issues and medication. The on-site access to comprehensive medical care will provide for
concomitant health issues.
The Launa Thompson Women's Health Pavilion will be nestled adjacent to the current Addiction Unit. This private
setting will accommodate approximately 10 beds in its initial phase. Growth potential will be highlighted in the
Addiction Center's strategic plan and will be implemented as the need arises. The rooms will reflect a soft feminine
motif with furniture that is comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. The entrance to the Pavilion will be clad by an
open arch depicting the name of Launa Thompson to which this program is dedicated by her loving husband Abe Thompson.
"Those who pass through these doors will be embraced with a spirit of hope, encouragement, joy and love."
